2017 Summer Necessities!

Hair:

Because having blonde hair is a bitch, but it looks so nice. Here's what I use to keep this mane healthy and under control in this heat.

Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo
I just tried this out because in this heat your hair gets a build up of sweat, and I also switched shampoos and noticed my hair was getting a weird build-up. I read a lot of reviews, so when I washed my hair I reversed washed it in fear of drying the fuck out of it aka I conditioned it first, washed that out a bit (left some conditioner in the ends), put this in, only on my roots, washed it out really well, then felt it was a bit dry, added a bit more conditioner. My hair felt fresh and bouncy af once it air dried. It doesn't smell pretty, but whatever. It is a clarifying shampoo.

DermOrganic Argan Oil Leave-In Treatment
(I actually swear by this stuff. It makes my hair dry faster because it's full of proteins, I never really get split ends, it's cheap, and I never get a build up residue from it. I've used it since I was in high school.) You can sometimes find it from Winners for around $17, but if not amazon.ca. FYI; I've used the shampoo and conditioner; sucks. Avoid it.

"The harsh summer months can do some real damage to hair. Bamboo Beach BB Beach Balm for Hair is formulated with conditioning and styling agents that provide optimal results for hair that has been exposed to summer sun, pool, or saltwater that can lead to dry, dull, brittle, breakage-prone strands. Infused with complete color and UVA/UVB protection, it helps to combat the damaging effects of the sun, pool, and saltwater. It’s ideal for using for giving hair weightless moisture, shine, frizz-control, and hold. It can be used on all hair types as a primer or main styling formula."

Pool/Beach:

X-Mini Speakers (I have 3 of these...)
Bluetooth is cool and all, but I'm old school and I get annoyed when the alerts go off for text messages, battery dying, phone calls... and I just think these are cool, cheap, and they have buddy jacks.

Amazon.ca $24.95-$70.50

Skin Care:

I recently ruined my skin by using Differin Gel (google it; if you're not familiar with it. To make it short, it's a strong retinoid. Which in 2016/15 (?) was just approved to be over the counter. There's a lot of positives to it, but negatives too. But damn, do my pores look smaller...) Anyways, I used it for a week to help with a little breakout and it helped alright. I went to the lady who does my eyebrows; who is a paramedical, clinical esthetician (I know, fancyyy for just getting my brows done) and she was like, "hm, your skin is very dry" *starts waxing* and I told her about the Differin. MY mistake for not telling her that I changed my skincare routine; which if you get your brows waxed, or go for facials, ALWAYS disclose any changes to your routine or if you even change medications. Because literally what happened next is the result of my stupidity. After I told her, she was already pretty much done the waxing. And even today (the next morning) I have slight, almost burn-like marks under my brows from how dry my skin was and then waxing. This is completely 110% my bad. Anyways, now I have to repair my skin, and eyelids. So, she gave me two samples of;

Hale Cosmeceuticals Dermist M3 Hyaluronic Acid 2oz $70. (There's tons of HA products, for cheaper, but this is the purest one hence the price point)

"Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the dermis, the layer of skin immediately under the surface. In newborns, it’s quite plentiful, but gradually diminishes as we age. In fact, decreasing hyaluronic acid correlates closely with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It makes sense, then, that by replenishing hyaluronic acid, dry skin is revitalized and refreshed, taking on a more youthful appearance.

In fact, decreasing hyaluronic acid correlates closely with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It makes sense, then, that by replenishing hyaluronic acid, dry skin is revitalized and refreshed, taking on a more youthful appearance.
Unlike many other HA products, which often contain water, glycerin derivatives, and oils, Hale Cosmeceuticals uses pure hyaluronic acid. And while some other manufacturers source their HA from the combs of roosters, we never use animal products (or engage in animal testing). Our HA is synthesized within our own laboratories. Dermist M3HA also has among the lowest trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) values, as the HA holds moisture escaping through the skin at the surface.
The only additives you’ll find in Dermist M3HA are minerals. We include copper, zinc, and manganese at optimum concentrations to facilitate wound-healing and scar reduction.
We recommend Dermist M3HA for post-laser treatments, post-peels, sunburns, itchy skin, flakiness, redness, scaling, and general hydration. Increase skin firmness and elasticity with the same natural substance that underlies the skin’s moisture level from the day you’re born. Use once or twice daily, or add a few drops to your usual skin moisturizerfor an extra shot of hydration."

How I use it; Clarisonic $239 (Mia3) on the lowest setting to get rid of any dead, flaky skin.
Put the Hyaluronic Acid.
Then Clinque Dramtically Differing Moisturizing Lotion $9-$34 (get the lotion, not the gel if you have dry skin).

Since it's summer, use some SPF moisturizer too. I use Neutrogena Moisture Oil-Free SPF 30. 1. Because it was cheap and on sale. 2. Because it had good reviews for wearing under makeup. 3. Because it has an SPF of 30. Don't judge me. Also, pick it up at a Wall-Mart it's the cheapest there.

Okay, so I use Tarte's Amazonian Clay 12-hour Foundation, but it's hella expensive and I had a $30 Shoppers gift card to kill. I brought my foundation to shoppers to try and match cause my skin is a weird colour, anything with any sort of red/pink in it shows up REALLY pink on me. This was the exact same colour (52-Vanilla) as Tarte's Light-Medium Sand and the coverage is amazing. But it's $29, Tarte is $51. So I lied...not all under $15, whatever....
